We don’t need gyms to reopen. We never really needed them in the first place.

Some surveys have suggested that, contrary to expectations, gym closures and lockdowns have prompted previously inactive people to move more.

The absence of gyms has broadened our idea of what “exercise” means and, in some ways, made it more accessible to people who previously recoiled at the word.

The Best Type of Exercise to Burn Fat

A few minutes of brief, intense exercise may be as effective as much lengthier walks or other moderate workouts for incinerating body fat, according to a helpful new review of the effects of exercise on fat loss. 

The moderate-exercise routines used in the studies varied considerably, with some involving walking and others jogging, cycling or swimming. In general, the endurance-style workouts lasted for about 40 minutes.
